Bojangles returns (back) to Texas.

The North Carolina-based Cajun-seasoned fried chicken fast food chain plans to open three franchise restaurants and 15 branches in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area next year, according to a press release.

As these stores arrive in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, they will be more on the Dallas side, with locations in Garland, Mesquite and Richardson.

Franchises are expected to open in the first half of 2022, the statement said, while company-owned restaurants will begin opening in the first quarter of this year.

These stores will be the first in the state since the chain retired years ago.

The chain will also have franchises in Houston, but has not announced plans to enter this market with other stores.

“Get ready, Texans, as our delicious chicken and cookies are heading your way, and we can’t wait to serve you the true southern flavor like only Bojangles does,” said Jose Costa, Director of Growth at Bojangles, in the press release. “We are proud to be working alongside two experienced multi-unit operators from LASH Foods and SAT Restaurant Group to relocate to Texas, and we look forward to the great successes that will result from these partnerships. “
