Thank goodness Nashville’s hot chicken is moving to the Park Cities: Lucky’s Hot Chicken, Vandelay Hospitality Group’s Nashville Hot Chicken entry (East Hampton Sandwich Co., Hudson House Restaurant & Raw Bar, Drake’s Hollywood) will go to space at 6309 Hillcrest Ave., the former Digg’s Taco Shop around the corner from McFarlin Boulevard – serving the communities of SMU and Highland Park.

A press release indicates that it will open at the end of 2020.

The first Lucky’s opened in late September 2020 at 4505 Gaston Ave., the iconic mid-century building where Brinker International founder Norman Brinker opened his first concept, Brink’s Restaurant.

The new location will replicate the retro theme of the East Dallas location with restaurant-style elements like red and white checkered vinyl floors, oak slat booths, a 60s aluminum counter and pendant lights in vintage opal glass.

Decor will include vintage blues posters from Nashville antique shops, hand-painted murals and old-fashioned neon signs.

The Highland Park location will offer two new features: a walk-in window for curbside pickup and alcoholic frozen cocktails.

The menu is simple, consisting of chicken tenderloins and wings, in 5 spice levels, and a fried chicken tenderloin sandwich on a homemade buttery bun with coleslaw, cheese, back sauce and pickles.

Sides include Mac ‘N’ Cheese, coleslaw, baked beans, and buttered, spicy collard greens. You can also enjoy draft beer and soft serve ice cream.
