A new fried chicken restaurant is opening in Newcastle city center and Gen Zs should be lining up from day one.
Jollibee, a global fried chicken chain, will open a branch at 111 Northumberland Street on Thursday, November 4.
The new site will create 50 new hospitality jobs in the city and will be the brand’s first restaurant in the North East.

Adam Parkinson, Commercial Director of Jollibee Europe, said: “It’s great to open in the heart of Newcastle, on one of the busiest streets in the north, and to introduce Jollibee to more new customers.
“For anyone who doesn’t know us, this is your chance to try the crispiest fried chicken and the best chicken burgers in town.”
Jollibee, which was founded in the Philippines, is known for its crispy fried chicken.
The chain is said to have gained a “cult following” around the world with hundreds of people lining up when new stores open.
Its fast food menu includes a spicy chicken burger, chicken wrap, and Sriracha-loaded chicken fries.
The Newcastle store, which can seat up to 95 people, will also serve Halal meat.
Jollibee bosses believe the branch will be a hit with Gen Z and have said they expect long lines of young people when the restaurant opens at 10 a.m.
Adam Parkinson said: “Newcastle’s student body and incredible culture and nightlife meant he had to be next on our list.
“Jollibee is designed as a place where young people can meet up with friends and relax, with the best customer service and a fun shopping experience.
“Jollibee is becoming a household name among the Gen Z population in the UK.”
