The fast food chain is quietly testing a new ‘delicious’ menu item – but there’s bad news if you live outside of New South Wales and South Australia.

McDonald’s is quietly testing a new ‘exclusive’ menu item – but if you’re not in New South Wales or South Australia, you’ll have to wait.

The fast food giant confirmed to that it sells “southern style chicken” in some stores.

“This is part of our commitment to develop our chicken menu and offer even more choices to our customers,” said a spokesperson.

“We look forward to receiving customer feedback on the trial. ”

Sydney Food Blogger @adrianwidjy posted a video on TikTok of him trying the chicken, calling it a “must try”.

“Finally, I try this exclusive menu only in a few branches of Macca,” he said.

“It’s so good, personally I love it.”

Adrian added in the comments that he would eat “both” southern Macca and KFC style chicken because he couldn’t choose between the two.

Macca fans have said the rest of Australia “needs it,” one person lamenting, “I wish there was one near me.”

“I hate being in Melbourne,” another joked.

“I only heard how delicious it was… I have to try it,” one person said.

“Macca’s in Asia sells fried chicken, it’s great,” commented another.

Macca’s Southern Style Chicken is available for purchase in one piece for $ 3.20, in five pieces, or in a pack of 10 pieces.

You can also get a meal with three pieces of Southern Style chicken, a drink, and fries.

In NSW, Southern Style Chicken is available at McDonald’s Waterloo, Dapto, St Marys North and Waitara restaurants.

In South Australia, the menu is available at its Felixstow, Camden Park, Noarlunga, Reynella, Darlington, Fulham Gardens, West Terrace, Gawler, Port Adelaide, Munno Para, Prospect II and Green Field outlets.

It comes as McDonald’s confirmed this week that it will be releasing a Caramilk McFlurry following rumors from last month.

The epic dessert will be available at all Macca restaurants and via McDelivery starting Wednesday, but for a limited time only.

The Australian fast food chain‘s senior brand manager said he was “so excited” to introduce Cadbury Caramilk McFlurry and give Aussie Macca fans the dessert they’ve been craving.
