Social media is full of mouthwatering recipe videos that show you how to cook delicious meals.

Now, Nando’s has jumped on the bandwagon by posting their own bird’s-eye recipe videos on their UK Twitter account – but not all of them have gone too well with diners.

A video on how to prepare the traditional South African dish “bunny chow” has been particularly criticized by followers of Nando for its inauthenticity, with one user calling the restaurant chain’s version of “profanity.”

Nando’s has been criticized both for his bunny chow recipe and for calling South Africa “Southern Africa” in his tweet promoting the video.

The video in question shows a pair of disembodied hands preparing ‘bunny chow’ – a South African street food dish from the city of Durban made with meat or curry stuffed vegetables in place of a small loaf of bread. .

The restaurant chain has also come under fire for calling bunny chow a South African dish instead of a South African dish in its tweet promoting the bunny chow video. The chain was founded in South Africa in 1987.

A spokesperson for Nando admitted the tweet “could have been clearer” – but said the bunny chow recipe was the restaurant giving the classic dish a new twist.

But a handful of South African Twitter users were quick to claim the restaurant chain’s chicken dish was not an authentic take on the fast food favorite.

One accused Nando’s of ‘stealing’ Durban’s bunny chow, while others said it wasn’t the ‘real deal’ or just a ‘sucker’ version of the dish.

Some said it looked delicious and ‘spot on’.

This isn’t the first time that diners have criticized a Nando recipe video.

In February, a video of Peri-Peri pancakes combining bacon and chocolate was also criticized by customers.

But others have urged Nando’s to add the dish to their menu.

A spokesperson for Nando said: “Bunny Chow is a traditional South African dish and our PERi-PERi peppers are hand-picked from parts of southern Africa, the recipe shown is a Nando version of this classic dish.

“Cultural collisions are at the heart of Nando’s and our online recipes aim to give our fans fiery inspiration in the kitchen by adding a touch of PERi-PERi to traditional recipes. “
