FAIRFIELD, CT – At Lovebird, good things happen to those who wait.

The much-anticipated Chicken Restaurant, a Philadelphia-area staple, opened its first Connecticut restaurant earlier this month in Fairfield. Located at 2385 Black Rock Turnpike, the company now occupies the storefront that once housed the Connecticut Cookie Co.

“People were really excited that we were open,” said managing partner Stephanie Wilson, who oversees the Fairfield site. “We are really grateful for the support from the community.”

Lovebird is a high-quality, fast-casual restaurant, according to Wilson. Popular menu items include the Signature Chicken Sandwich, made with Amish cage-free chicken and brioche buns from Wave Hill Breads of Connecticut, as well as buckets of chicken, chicken popcorn and fries.

“Everything is handmade on site,” Wilson said, explaining how the chicken undergoes a three-day brine seasoning process and the restaurant is shipped in a proprietary gluten-free flour blend.

Because everything is made to order, customers should allow a 15 to 20 minute wait.

“The love and care put into it takes a bit longer to wait,” Wilson said. “You have a superior product that you get through this process.”

Lovebird’s business model is primarily built around take-out. Customers can call ahead and pick up their food, order on the Lovebird app and earn loyalty points or use DoorDash, or order through Uber Eats.

Wilson credited his staff for a successful smooth opening.

“They care so much about doing a great job and creating a great product,” she said.

The Town of Fairfield is delighted to welcome Lovebird, according to Mark Barnhart, Director of Community and Economic Development.

“It’s always great to have another dining option and to add another location to our already vibrant restaurant scene,” he said.

While Wilson, a Wilton resident, is currently focused on the Fairfield business, she hopes to eventually expand Lovebird’s Connecticut footprint to other cities in Fairfield County in the future.
