A Pennsylvania chicken restaurant is looking to spread its wings with the opening of its first Connecticut location in Fairfield.

Lovebird, described as a “high quality chicken restaurant,” will open at its 2385 Black Rock Turnpike location in late August, according to managing partner Stephanie Wilson.

This will be Lovebird’s first location outside of Pennsylvania. The chain currently operates three locations in Pennsylvania: Bryn Mawr, Doylestown and Newtown, Penn. The new location will be called Lovebird Fairfield.

As to why Fairfield was chosen, Wilson explained that the plans had been discussed for some time.

“We have decided [in] early spring [of 2021] to execute our launch plan at Fairfield, ”Wilson said. “As longtime friends, John Ordway [founder and owner] and Stéphanie Wilson Paulson [business operator and 22-year resident of Fairfield County] had long discussed and researched to bring Lovebird to Fairfield. “

As for the menu, the restaurant focuses primarily on chicken, with options ranging from cage-free chicken thighs from Gerber’s Amish Farm to a Baja Bird chicken sandwich. For those who don’t eat meat, Lovebird also offers vegetarian and vegan options, including tofu bowls and salads.

The restaurant also offers a number of side dishes, including fried pickles with chipotle dip and crispy Brussels sprouts with mint and chili peppers.

The Lovebird Fairfield news follows the announcement of a Chick-Fil-A being offered on the former property of Joe’s American Bar & Grill.
