Basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal is opening a new location for his “Big Chicken” restaurant inside the Climate Pledge Arena.
Shaq stopped by the Seattle arena on Thursday, wearing a brand new Kraken sweater. Its Big Chicken restaurant in the arena will feature an exclusive Kraken sandwich with Buffalo sauce, blue cheese and cream cheese.
The Big Chicken location at Climate Pledge Arena will be the very first location in the arena for the chain. The quick and casual chicken restaurant created by Shaq has two other locations: one in Las Vegas, just off the Las Vegas Strip, and the other in Glendale, California.
At Climate Pledge Arena, Big Chicken will be one of four food and beverage stores equipped with Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology. The arena website says the technology “will make the arena shopping experience more efficient and reduce wait times, so guests can get back to the action faster.”
Climate Pledge Arena – the future home of the Seattle Storm and Seattle Kraken – announced its first food partners in May 2021, with a focus on flavors and favorites from the Pacific Northwest.
The food and beverage program coming into the arena, called “The Climate Collective,” was created with supplier Delaware North. A number of local partner restaurants will help “eliminate the perception of traditional arena fare,” including: Ballard Pizza Co., Din Tai Fung, Metropolitan Grill, Elliott’s Oyster House, Lil Woody’s and Just Poke.
The Seattle Kraken’s first home game is on October 23. But the arena’s grand opening will be a Coldplay concert on October 22.
First, however, the arena will host the Foo Fighters and Death Cab for Cutie on October 19 for a “private” benefit show – which is not mentioned on the arena website, but there is no mention of it on the arena website. there is a Ticketmaster page.
