If you’re a curly fry team, Arby’s is probably on your radar as a trusted go-to when you need a fast food fries solution. In fact, Arby’s fries ranked very high compared to the fast food chain’s other fries for taste and texture in the LA Times’ Official french fries power rating of 2019. So it’s big news that the chain is moving away from fried fries with the announcement of a whole new form of fries.
Arby’s Crinkle Fries, which feature accordion-like grooves for maximum crunch, are simply seasoned with fine kosher salt, letting the potato shape really shine in this new side dish offering. The item is joining the permanent menu, which means you’ll now have the difficult choice of choosing between the two shapes of fries every time you reach one of the chain locations. To celebrate the new release, Arby’s is offering the new item for just $ 1 through April. They also released a new promotional jingle for the occasion, which is a remix of the 1997 Sugar Ray hit “Fly”. . . except now it’s fries and voiced by Arby lead singer Ving Rhames.
But we have to ask ourselves: does the introduction of a new fry on the menu mean that the days of fried fries are numbered? Hopefully not, we wouldn’t want something like the KFC Potato Wedge controversy to unfold in this beloved sandwich chain.
