The old Whiskey Nicks sign still stands along the sidewalk, but the location of the old Niagara Falls tavern will soon see people gulping down crispy chicken bathed in buttermilk and hand-thrown in a special bath of secret seasoning with the opening of Coop Wicked Chicken’s first Niagara location.
The growing company, with locations in Hamilton and Burlington and a seasonal location in Port Carling, will soon open its fourth location at the corner of Drummond Road and McLeod Road in a brand new building nearing completion.
Morgan Baronet, senior brand manager at the company, said she was “delighted” to see social media abuzz about the new Niagara Falls location which is part of a growing footprint. She said another location is planned in Mississauga across from Square One, as well as locations in Kitchener and Waterdown.
Baronet said people visiting the restaurant when it opens soon will experience a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
“It’s a very unique feeling,” she said. “It has this nostalgic, old-school vibe. It’s a mix of nostalgia and pop culture.
People can expect to see graffiti and memorabilia on the walls if existing restaurants are emulated. “There’s something for every generation,” Baronet said. “It’s a super fun environment to be in.”

• The company says some “must haves” include fried deviled eggs, hardcore pulled chicken poutine and the Dirty Bird taco.
